In our previous video, we talked about how you can buy fractional shares on Fidelity, but it was only through their mobile app. Turns out that in the past few weeks, for certain accounts that have been updated and allowed to view their beta-view, you are now able to trade fractional shares on your desktop!

Our video walks you through step-by-step how to do it on their website. Please keep in mind that we aren’t affiliated with Fidelity in anyway…we just love their platform! So if you have specific questions about why it may not be showing up, please give them a call or chat with them using their chat function!

Not all of our accounts enabled fractional shares on the desktop version of the site either, so we’re trying to get to the bottom of it. But, with news of Oracle buying TikTok and the sudden surge in stocks in mid-September 2020, buying full shares is now a bit harder if we have limited money to work with (if you’re interested in buying tech stocks).

We can now get around that even if we don’t have access to a mobile device that can access their app! You can buy stocks for as little as $1! This is perfect if you want to select specific stocks and diversify your portfolio! This is a great alternative to buying a mutual/index fund. But if you’d still like to buy an ETF version of the fund to take advantage of tax efficiency, you can now, using fractional shares! It’s a win-win!

Just remember that these orders cancel at the end of the trading day if they aren’t filled.
